Snow Much More is seeking your support for two highly prioritised health services
operating in the Snowy region. Please note that Snowy Hydro SouthCare operates
in the national capital of Australia, Canberra and much of NSW.
Snow Much More (www.snowmuchmore.com.au) is the leading business,
regional development and community website for the Southern regions of
NSW and ACT (expansion into the ACT is underway, improving connections
between our regions). Snow Much More is seeking your support for the Emergency
Department, Cooma Hospital and the Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter.
Please view letters from Snowy Hydro SouthCare and Cooma Hospital giving us
authority to raise funds on their behalf and profile information of Snow Much More
for your background.
We chose both these projects after closely examining community needs in the region.
Both projects have far reaching priorities for the region and are vital lifesaving services.
The delivery of health care services is vital to the continued expansion of this region and
both initiatives have the support of the Member for Eden Monaro and the Mayor of Cooma.
A web link is provided to an article in the regional paper shows the Mayor's support as
he officially opened the Bachelor & Bachelorette contest:
http://www.coomaexpress.com.au/news/local/news/general/calling-on-bachelors-and-bachelorettes/2072273.aspx.
The events include a Fun Run which we thought a corporate business or government
would like to adopt the role as a major sponsor and which would also serve as an
annual reminder of your support and concern for health in the region. It would certainly
demonstrate real concern for community health requirements and issues.
We encourage businesses in the regions to contribute to make this a huge success for
our lifesaving services. Community members and businesses wishing to donate money
or items that can be auctioned or part of a prize pool can contact us at
ange@snowmuchmore.com.au.
A significant donation from a major sponsor would be acknowledged on the Snow Much
More website, all regional media (newspapers and radio), all public events, Certificate
of Appreciation and in the Emergency Department in the form of a bronze plaque that
the major sponsor could design and produce. That would be there for all to see in future
years. Snowy Hydro SouthCare could similarly acknowledge this contribution in
their base centre.
Please note that as part of the fundraising laws, Cooma Hospital has no restrictions in
NSW, however, there is a limit applied to funds raised in the ACT, capped at $15,000.
All additional funds raised in the ACT will go directly to Snowy Hydro SouthCare.

Snow Much More Background
Who We Are
Snow Much More (www.snowmuchmore.com.au) is a website designed to attract regional development to southern NSW and the Snowy Mountains and to provide better links to the ACT. Snow Much More promotes businesses, community groups and attractions in these regions. It commenced 23 July 2010 and has received over 700,000 hits in 1 year and is owned by Angela Hart & Paul Hart.
Credentials
Angela Hart; Associate Diploma in Business Studies & a Bachelor of Applied Psychology. Angela has worked in the Department of Health & Ageing since 2000 in a managerial role (2 days p/week). Paul works for Medicare Australia in a managerial role. Paul has an extensive program management and policy development background.
Acheivements in health care
We were previously members of the Paediatrics at The Canberra Hospital Consumer Network (2005-2009) and contributed to the development of a Patient Health Record for Chronic Illnesses, the design of the children's waiting area in the Emergency Department and the Women and Children's Hospital design at Canberra Hospital.
Snow Much More is providing promotion for ACT and regional communities and businesses at low cost or no cost depending on organisational criteria and circumstances. It provides free support to schools, churches and emergency services. We are self-funded and guide tourists and newcomers on where they can shop, eat out, stay and learn about what the region has to offer. Snow Much More has enjoyed a close relationship with Snowy radio stations 2XL and Snow FM.
Snow Much More posts articles in its local/tourist information section about news, events, tourism and on topics of interest as requested by community/businesses. Communities can better navigate choices, use an online classified, look at specials/discounts and actively engage in communication through our articles facility under local/tourist information. It provides a regional policy comment section titled “Your Say” where the community can express opinions on regional initiatives.
Snow Much More is the leader and developer in the region's online business promotion. Events and classifieds are in an easy to find location and invite participation.
Snow Much More now provides a virtual bridge to the Snowies. We are expanding into Canberra and continue to build links and partnerships with professional groups and commercial associations. This will in turn help Canberra when over 2,000,000 visitors that visit the Snowy region, learn of Canberra’s attractions and discover what it has to offer. We will continue to encourage Sydney to bridge this gap in the next 12 months. This promotion will encourage development projects in the region.
Snow Much More Fundraising
Snow Much More is supporting Cooma Hospital's Emergency Department and Snowy Hydro SouthCare. The Emergency Department, Cooma Hospital is now faced with a growing number of patients year round and is badly in need of new refurbishment.
Snowy Hydro SouthCare relies on community support to enable continued flights, appropriate emergency equipment for crew and to keep the standard for care to critically ill patients high, giving patients the greatest chance of survival.
The cost for Cooma Hospital's Emergency Department to restructure so that it can meet the needs of today is around $500,000. Snowy Hydro SouthCare requires $4.5 million per year to keep the helicopter equipped with crew and appropriate equipment and to enable the continued flight service to occur.
Bachelor & Bachelorette Contest
Snow Much More ran a bachelor/bachelorette fundraising contest open to the ACT & Snowy Mountains. The Bachelor & Bachelorette contest concluded with a finale auction dinner, raising over $10,000. The event was held at The Alpine Hotel in Cooma on 2 July 2011. These funds were raised for Snowy Hydro South Care and the Emergency Department, Cooma Hospital.
Fun Run
We are holding a friendly, get fit family Fun Run. This will be held at 10am, 16 October 2011. We are providing a 4km & 10km track. The Cooma Monaro Shire Council has approved the Fun Run and will fund any road closures, these are to be minimal. We are inviting top athletes from the region to compete and would also like it to become an annual event.
Social Inclusion
These events are intended for builging community through greater engagement. We recognise greater community engagement and social inclusion build stronger communities and help overcome isolation in regions where distance between districts is vast. We are bridging the gap between the ACT & Snowy Mountains.
The Fun Run is open to all ages, all people with differing fitness abilities.
Snow Much More is a mass media outlet for both community and visitors nationally and internationally. Snow Much More currently has international interest and intends to harness this further through a digital plan which includes Facebook.
Promotional Resources
Snow FM & 2XL provide a level of sponsorship. Their sponsorship includes additional advertisements; support such as interviews and a weekly special brought to you by Snow Much More.
Involving schools within the Region
We will be inviting Rotary and all schools within the region to fill the park on the day of the fun run with food stalls. We will also invite music entertainers to provide entertainment at Centennial Park, Cooma and strongly urge regional support.
